POLICE ARRESTED AFTER SHOOT-OUT
At about 9:25 pm on May 14th, police responded to a call about shots being fired from a vehicle in the St. Martin's Area. Upon arrival on Lacroix Street, police observed a dark color Trooper without license plates, with a silver lining at the lower part of the body of the vehicle; which was recognized to be that of Police Constable #941 Delmar Moguel. The trooper then proceeded down Lacroix Street. In pursuit, the Police attempted to obstruct the path of the trooper as it parked in it's path; however the trooper drove around the police vehicle. An occupant of the trooper was seen to be of brown complexion, high hair and chubby built. The Trooper was taken to the corners of Mahogany and Lacroix Street, when someone from inside started firing shots at the Police, who in turn returned fire. The vehicle fled the scene but a rapid police response has resulted in the detention of two persons: P/C Delmar Moguel, and Darren Banks. Police investigations continue.
MAN SODOMIZES CHILD 9
On the 14/5/08 about 2:15pm acting on information received, police visited the K.H.M.H. Trauma Room and spoke to a nine year old child. In the presence of her guardian, she told police that sometime after 7:00am on May 14, she was walking out the front gate of the Special Education Center located on Freetown Road, Belize City when a black, tall, dread hair man, with ‘big belly’ said to her “come ya!” She stated that upon replying “NO”, the man pulled her into a house near the front of the school gate and had anal sex with her. The child also stated that this was the second time this has happened to her. She told police, the first time (she could not recall the date or time) when she was about 8 years old, she went into the bathroom at school. A student, whose name she recalled; forced his way into the bathroom and had anal sex with her. The child was examined by a doctor who certified that she was anally known. Police have detained 53 year old Eric Mills, a taxi man of a Freetown address, pending charges.
HOUSE ON FIRE
Acting on information received at 4:00am on the 14.5.08, of a house fire on Rasta Street, Belize City, police visited #6669 Rasta Street, where they saw (2) lumber and plywood houses engulfed in flames. The national fire service personnel were on the scene attempting to extinguish the fire. Initial investigations revealed that sometime during the day on the 13.5.08, 57 year old Levi Coffin, a carpenter, was using a fire-heart which was in the yard. Coffin put out the fire and later went to bed. Sometime around 4:00am on the 14.5.08, he was awaken by the smell of smoke and saw his house on fire. The fire then spread to a second house inside the same yard. Both houses are owned by Coffin and were not insured. The fire also caused minor damages to the house next door at #10 Rasta Street, occupied by Caren Robinson, 36yrs, a manager at Ready Call Center.
SUDDEN DEATH Acting upon information received at 6:45pm on the 14.5.08, police visited the K.H.M.H, Intensive Care Unit, where the lifeless body of 29 year old Glen Urbina, of #109 Cemetery Road, Belize City was seen with bruises to the right side of the head, cut wounds to the right hand and a large cut wound to the right wrist. A witness reported to police that at about 3:00pm on the 14.5.08, Glen Urbina was at Mike’s Motorplex located at #109 Cemetery Road drinking alcohol and was told to leave the office. Glen Urbina became upset and punched the glass window at the cashier area, which caused the injuries to him. Urbina was taken to the KHMH where he succumbs to his injuries while receiving treatment. His body awaits a post mortem as police continue to investigate.
SUDDEN DEATH Acting on information received police visited a small wooden house on Tranquil Lane, Belize City where they saw the decomposed body of a dark complexioned man identified as that of 49 year old Clifton Major lying on the floor. A friend reported that about 9:00pm on the 14.5.08, she went to visit Major, and found him dead.
A death certificate has been issued by Dr Estrada Bran after reviewing his medical history.

FEMALE TODDLER DIES AFTER BEING BEATEN;HER BROTHER SUSTAINS INJURIES TO SKULL
About 9:15 am on 12.5.08, Police visited the Pediatric ward at the K.H.M.H. where they observed a female 2 year old child with bruises on her buttocks, and knees, missing front tooth and a cut bottom lip. The mother of the child reported to police that on Sunday11 between the hours of 6:30 am and 7:00 a.m. she left her children in the care of her boy-friend. She went to speak to her friend who resides on the upper flat of the same residence. On her return, she told police, she found her daughter sleeping and breathing heavily. Her boyfriend told her that the little girl had defecated herself and that he had changed her clothes and then beat her. Medical checks made on the 4 month old boy revealed that he had a swelling over his head. A C-T Scan was conducted on both children and confirmed that their skull was fractured. On Tues13 at about 11:10 am the female child died due to the injuries received. A post mortem examination awaits the body. Police are conducting an intensive investigation into this matter. In light of the increasing number of cases of child abuse the COMPOL has given his affirmation that those involved in this reprehensible practice will be dealt with the full force of the law.

FURTHER REPORT
Reference report dated 13.5.08, concerning the drowning of 26 year old Gabriel PEREZ of August Pine Ridge Village, Orange Walk District. On 14.5.08 at 11:25 a.m. his body was retrieved from the New River Lagoon. The body now awaits post mortem.
