About Us

 The Dangriga Police Station is located on Commerce Street; it is a two storey concrete structure that is painted in the official Police colour yellow and green.

At present Dangriga Police Formation is manned by forty five Police Officers ranks as follows:

        1 Superintendent
        1 Inspector
        5 Sergeants
        6 Corporals
        28 Police Constables
        2 Woman Police Constables
        2 Male Special Constables

                    Total – 45 officers

The detachment also has four civilian support staff Finance Officer Amera Jones, Secretary Roxana Flores, Scenes of Crime Technician Martin Rodriguez and Prison Guard Allan Flores.  Presently the Dangriga Station has no janitor but urgently in need of one.  

Mr. Alvan Gentle Supt. is the Officer Commanding the Stann Creek (Police) District and Mr. Alden Dawson Insp. LSM is his deputy.

Like every other formation Dangriga formation consist of branches, there is the Criminal Investigation Branch comprise of two officers Sergeant Ira Castillo no. 196 his assistant Police constable no. 151 Cecilio Cal, their duty entails but not limited to investigation and major crimes such as murder, robbery etc.  The CIB has a comfortable office located at the lower flat of the station.  There is the Prosecution Branch headed by the Prosecutor Woman Sergeant No. 825 Yvonne Casimero and her Court Orderly Police Constable no. 93 Clifford Castillo, they are charged with the responsibility of prosecuting Summary cases before the Magistrate court and other Police duties when the court is not in session.  There is also the Traffic Branch at presently there is only one officer posted there he is Police Constable no. 101 Fermin Choco, he is tasked with traffic duties, he is also the driver for the Officer Commanding this formation.  Then there is the Domestic Violence Unit which deal with domestic matters, that section is run by woman Police constable no. 967 Sherilyn Arzu and the Zone Beat Liaison officer is Woman Corporal no. 691 Francine Solano, who also supervise the work a the Domestic Violence Unit (DVU).  Then there is the Special Branch comprising of two officers corporal no. 1039 Eric Young and Police Constable No. 165 Carlos Galvez like the Crimes Investigation Branch (CIB) they are plain clothes officers but are tasked with the gather of intelligence both internal and external.  There is also the uniform or front line officer who runs the Police Station on a 24hrs basis, those officers operates a four shift system that is headed by Corporals.  

The formation have since the 15th July 2008 went through a transition, there is a new Commanding officer and Deputy Commander.

Observation is that some community oriented groups which should have formed a few years ago have not formed such as the citizen on patrol (COP) program.  The Special Constable program and the Niehbourhood watch group.  It has now become a special project of the new Administration to form the groups and that effort commences now.

The Police Youth Cadet Corp was dormant in the Town of Dangriga, however, since Monday 25th August 2008 the Deputy Commander Dangriga with other Police took on a recruitment drive and now presently has 24 members of the Police Cadet Corp. in town of Dangriga and that drive will continue.  

At present the formation have a People’s Coalition Committee, however, they were not active and since the month of August they have been contacted and are now on board.  That Committee is made up of Civilians and are tasked to report to the Police administration what the citizen thinks of the Police and to hear response from the Police.  That committee meets with the Dangriga Police Detachment every last Wednesday of each month and the public is invited.  That committee also makes recommendations to the administration to assist in keeping the confidence of the public in the Police.

Sub Station Information

SUB-STATIONS INFORMATION

The Dangriga Formation mans five sub station which include, Gales Point only for Administration purpose since that Sub Station is in the Belize District Jurisdiction, that Substation is police by Corporal 148 Norman Coye, that Sub Station is located on what is referred to as the Coastal Road, that is a road that links Belize District at miles 31 on the Western Highway to Stann Creek District at mile 8 on the Hummingbird Highway.  We have the Pomona Sub Station Police by Corporal no. 304 Shane Ciego, that sub station is located at mile 13 on the Hummingbird Highway.  Then there is the Hopkins Sub Station and Sittee River Sub station Police by Police Constables no. 709 Leroy Nunez and Police Constable No. 738 Jeffrey Sanchez respectively.  Both located off the Southern Highway, there is also Silk Grass Police Sub Station policed by Police Constable No. 207 Lincoln Alvarez.
