FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT On 02/07/08 at about 9:30pm Police visited an area between miles 30 and 31 on the Western Highway, where the body of a Creole male person was seen lying on the right hand side of the road. The person was seen with injuries to his head and upper part of his body and apparently dead. Preliminary investigation reveals that on 02/07/08 at about 8:50pm JOSE GARBUTT, 26yrs, Manager of Jaguar Paw Resort, reported that whilst driving Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (License Plate BZ-C-29182) on the Western Highway -- accompanied by ELMER GARCIA and ALFREDO AVILEZ -- heading to Belize City, heard the vehicle hit something and immediately came to a stop then noticed that he had knocked down a male person. GARBUTT is the holder of a valid driver’s license. Toyota Prado is insured and licensed with RFG Insurance. The body of the male person – not yet identified -- was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where it was pronounced dead on arrival. Police have since detained JOSE GARBUTT pending charges.
BRAZEN ROBBER INJURES WOMAN On Wednesday, July 2, Richard Vellos reported to police that at about 4pm he was inside the Centaur Cable Office located at Ramons’ Plaza, Ladyville along with Charlene Gibson, when a dark skin male person with dreads entered the establishment wearing a blue and black shirt, a black long pants with a knapsack. The man pulled out a firearm and demanded money, then ordered both of them to turn towards the wall. He then went behind the counter and stole from the cash register $1,350.00 – then fired a shot injuring Ms Gibson to her left upper leg. The culprit then made good his escape. Police have one person in custody and are questioning him in connection with this incident. HEINOUS CRIME On the 3rd day of July, 2008 at 6:00a.m, San Ignacio Police personnel visited the Calla Creek Road about a mile away from Bullet Tree Village, Cayo District where they saw a red and white single Cab Toyota Pick-up (LP--CYC 18321) off the Road on the left hand side. Inside the pick-up Police saw two Hispanic male persons inside the cab – motionless -- with apparent gunshot wounds to their bodies. These persons were identified to be Angel Xis, 41yrs, and Marco Tulio Xis, 18yrs, both laborers of Calla Creek Village, Cayo District. Further inspection on the body revealed that Angel Xis received what appears to be gun shot wound to his upper left arm, large cut wound to the left arm, gunshot on the center back, upper back, left foot and left knee. Marco Tulio Xis received injuries to the right side of lower back and the back of his head. Initial investigation revealed that sometime around 6:00am Angel Xis was driving his vehicle -- accompanied by his sons Marco Tulio Xis and William Arnold Xis (12yrs) -- on Calla Creek Road traveling to San Ignacio when they were ambushed by 5 masked men armed with two shotguns and a rifle. The bandits demanded money from the men. Twelve year old William made good his escape and only received a cut on his left hand. Further investigation also revealed that earlier David Shish, 65yrs, a farmer of Calla Creek Village was onboard his pickup -- driven at the time by his son Amilcar Shish. Whilst traveling on the Calla Creek Road, they encountered 3 mask men who armed with weapons on the roadside then pointed at them and fired 3 shots. One shot hit David on the right eyebrow, right side of his head and left side of his neck. His son continued driving towards San Ignacio Town where he was taken to the San Ignacio Town Hospital for medical attention. He was attended and released from the hospital. The scene was visited and processed by police and they have detained four men. The police are currently conducting an intensive investigation to bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice. TRAFFIC ACCIDENT On Thursday, July 03, 2008 sometime around 1:30am, police received a call of a traffic accident in Los Lagos. Upon arrival, police observed a vehicle completely submerged in the lake. Initial investigation revealed that SUNIL SDARANGANI a.k.a Doonys, was driving his Toyota Prado when he lost control, went into the lake and was trapped inside. Prior to their arrival, police say, his body had already been retrieved and was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police investigation also revealed that prior to the incident Sunil was socializing with friends. Police investigation continues.
