On Wednesday, 3rd February, 2010, about 5:35am at a Multi-Agency Police, BDF, Immigration Check Point Between miles 71 and 72 on the Western Highway. The law enforcers stopped and checked a D&E Bus where police saw a male sitting in the bus acting suspicious. A search of his person revealed  nothing, however on checking under the seat police saw a black plastic bag which upon retrieval was discovered to contain cannabis. The male whom identified himself as Jermaine Zuniga, 23yrs., Laborer of #3 Rice Street, Dangriga Town and drugs was taken to the Benque Police Station where when weight amounted to 907 grams.He was subsequently arrested and charged for Drug Trafficking.

In similar fashion, about 12:20am Police stopped  a dark green Daewoo (4) doors car bearing license plate # BZ C-32836 driven at the time by Gregori Vilensky, 20yrs. Israeli Manager of mile 63 Western Highway who was alone in the vehicle. Police saw a small bottle with a piece of foil paper on the vehicle floor between Vilenski feet. It was retrieved and Vilenski informed of the "Possession of Pipe" offense that he committed.

He was escorted to Benque Viejo Police where he was formally arrested and charged for the offense afore mentioned .

SHOOTING/MURDER

Reference shooting incident that occurred on Central American Boulevard on the 1/2/10, on 2/2/10 Darrell WILLIAMS Jr. succumbed to his injuries whilst under going treatment at the K.H.M.H.

ARSON

Police are investigating a house fire that occurred on 02/02/02 where a house and its contents situated at  #4450 Haulze Street, Belize City was completely destroyed by fire. Silvia AUGUST,  waitress and owner of the house reported that on 01/02/10 at 10:00pm, she properly secured her plycem house and went to spend the night at her sister’s home and at 3:00am on the 2/2/10, she was informed that her house was on fire.

FAIL TO DECLARE FUNDS/ARREST

On 02/02/10 Police at the Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA) detained one Wei Quan ZHENG, businessman, of Caye Caulker Village, Belize District for the crime of “FAILURE TO DECLARE FUNDS WHEN LEAVING BELIZE”. He was found in possession of an undisclosed amount of money which he failed to declare whilst attempting to leave the country of Belize.  He was handed over to FIU was arrested and charged.

On 01/02/10, Police visited the Customs Department at the PGIA where Customs Officials hand over an undisclosed amount of money that was found in the possession of one Michael Gregory MCKOY, manger, residing in the USA. As a result FIU personnel arrested and charged MCKOY for the crime of “FAILURE OF DECLARE WHEN ENTERING BELIZE WITH MORE THAN ($10,000.00) IN CASH OR NEGOTIABLE INSTRUMENT IN BELIZE CURRENCY OR ITS EQUIVALENT IN FOREIGN CURRENCY”.

INCEST/CARNAL KNOWLEDGE

Independence Police are investigating a case of incest in which a 16year old female minor reported that her grandfather, 66, a Honduran farmer of Cowpen Village had sexual intercourse with her. She further reported that she was also engaged with sexual intercourse with her boyfriend during the summer of 2008. As a result Police arrested and charged the grandfather for the crime of Incest -- and are looking for the boyfriend pending investigation.

POSTMORTEM


Reference fatal road traffic accident that occurred on the 31/1/10 on the Southern Highway, on 02/02/10 a postmortem examination was conducted on the body of Chaddie VALERIO, 29yrs, of George Town Village where at the conclusion Dr. ESTRADABRAN certified the cause of death to be acute brain and head trauma, due to the road traffic accident.
