BELIZE CITY

SHOOTING INCIDENT

At 11:10pm on Friday the 5th day of March 2010, Police visited  the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital's trauma room where TONY GAMBOA, 23, was suffering from a gun shot wound to the right hand; VANZIE LAMB, 40,  was suffering from a gun shot wound to the left side of the back; LYN MCKENZIE, 29, was suffering from a gun shot wound to the right toe, and a gun shot wound the left side of the back; MARK AVILEZ, 8, was suffering from a gun shot wound that grazed his head; and GENEIVE COLEMAN, 29, was suffering from a gunshot wound that grazed the left buttocks and left side of the body.

Initial investigation revealed that around 10:53pm on Friday the 5th of March 2010 Gamboa, Vanzie, MCKENZIE, and Coleman Avilez all of Belize City among others were gathered at the entrance of an Alley located at the end of Water Lane, when a male person of dark complexion wearing a blue in color shirt came from the direction of Baghdad Street and fired several shots in their direction causing the injuries.  to the above mentioned victims. Gamboa and Coleman were treated and released whilst the others were admitted in stable condition.  Police Investigation continues on the

At 1:40 pm on Saturday the 6th day of March 2010, Crimes Investigations Branch Personnel visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital's trauma room where the lifeless body of Elmor Neal, 18, of # 63 Central American Boulevard, Belize City was kept. Officers observed an apparent gunshot wound to the left side of the ribcage. Initial investigations revealed that at about 1:35 pm on Saturday the 6th day of March 2010, a Police Officer, attached to Eastern Division was driving a private vehicle on Central American Boulevard, Belize City from the direction of Caesar Ridge Road towards Neal's Penn Road and upon reaching the corner of Faber’s Road, his attention was drawn to a male person of dark complexion pointing a chrome color firearm at an individual. The officer stopped the vehicle and exited the car pulling out his firearm, a 9mm pistol; identified himself as  a police officer and ordered the male person to put the gun down. According to the officer, the person then turned towards him pointing the firearm in his direction. The Police officer fired two shots at the male person causing the injuries. At the scene, investigators recovered a  chrome in color LR Rossi Brand .22 Calibre revolver. They also retrieved a Glock 9mm pistol along with magazine containing twelve(12) 9mm live rounds from the officer at the scene. Police investigation continues.  As with all officer involved shootings, the Commissioner of Police has ordered an simultaneous Internal Affairs Investigation.

SHOOTING INCIDENT

At 11:55 pm on Saturday the 6th day of March 2010, Police visited the corner of Euphrates Avenue and Cemetery Road, Belize City where the one John Matus, 22 of a Euphrates Avenue address, Belize City, was seen with an apparent gunshot wound to the right forearm. Initial investigation revealed that about 11:54 pm on Saturday the 6th day of March 2010, Matus, was standing in front of a snack shop at the above-mentioned location along with others when two male persons of dark complexion; one wearing a white T-shirt and the other wearing a red shirt approached them from the direction of Glenn Street, stood at the corner of Euphrates Avenue and Glenn Street whereby the male person wearing the red shirt pointed a firearm, in their direction and fired several shots, of which one caught Matus.

COROZAL

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On 5/3/10 at 7:50am, Police conducted a search on a Nissan Pick-up bearing license plate number CZL-C16890 driven at the time by one Nimrod ELLIS 44 of Ranchito Village Corozal District and on the passenger seat was Mario Hernandez 25 of Xaibe Village  Corozal District. The search resulted in the discovery of 192.4 grams of cannabis. Police have since arrested and jointly charged ELLIS and HERNANDEZ for the offence of DRUG TRAFFICKING.  

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On the 5/3/10 at 8:00am Police executed a search warrant at the Octavio Shores apartment number three, Corozal Town. Present at the time of the search was Karriel EARNEST 49 of same address. The search resulted in the discovery of three boxes of Benson and hedges special filter containing 76.0 grams of cannabis. Police have arrested and charged EARNEST with the offence of DRUG TRAFFICKING. 

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On the 5/3/10 at 11:45am, Police conducted a search on a Nissan car bearing license plate number CZL-D-1940 driven at the time by one Gabino MONTEROSO 31 Guatemalan Taxi operator of Paraiso Village Corozal District who was accompanied at the time by his wife Gloria MONTEROSO 31 Guatemalan Domestic of same address. The search resulted in the discovery of 499 grams of cannabis. Police have since arrested and jointly charged both persons for the offence of DRUG TRAFFICKING.   

ORANGE WALK

SHOOTING INCIDENT

On the 5/3/10 at 2:11pm, Police visited the Northern Regional Hospital where one Alidio Guerra 46, Guatemalan Farmer of Santa Cruz Village, Orange Walk District was seen suffering from a gunshot wound to his left knee.  Police investigation revealed that on the 5/3/10 at 1:00pm, Alidio Guerra and Bartolo CHI went to his property located at about a mile away from Santa Cruz Village, where they encountered one Gabriel Castillo and an argument started between GUERRA and CASTILLO. As a result GUERRA was shot by CASTILLO with a 16 gauge shotgun causing the above-mentioned injuries. Police have since detained Gabriel Castillo 49, Cane Farmer of Santa Cruz Village, Orange Walk District pending charges.

TOLEDO

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On the 5/3/10 at 4:00am, Police conducted a search on one Alejandro CUCUL 20, farmer of San Antonio Village, Toledo District. The search resulted in the discovery of 661 grams of cannabis. Police have since arrested and charged CUCUL with the offence of DRUG TRAFFICKING. 

DESTRUCTION OF MARIJUANA PLANTATION

On 5/3/10 between the hours of 3:00am and 5:00am, Police and B.D.F personnel conducted an anti drug operation six miles north east of Columbia Village, Toledo District which led to the discovery of two thousand marijuana seedlings measuring one to seven inches in height and six hundred mature marijuana plants measuring one to four feet in height, also found in the area was 1,247 grams of processed marijuana and 66 grams of cannabis seeds. No one was found in the area, all plants were uprooted and destroyed by fire.

On 6/3/10 between 7:00am and 5:30pm Police along with members of the BDF visited an area between San Carlos and Indian Church Village where they discovered (6) Marijuana Plantations. Plants ranging from 3ft to 5ft in height. All 15,500 marijuana trees were all uprooted and destroyed. No one was found in the area.

BELMOPAN

MISSING PERSON

On 6/3/10 at 11:57pm, Jose CHOCON 32yrs, Belizean student of #12 Amapola Street, Las Flores Area, Belmopan City reported that his sister Grociela CHOCON 27yrs, Belizean Businesswoman of #1Zultana Street, Las Flores Area, left her business place (La Cabana Restaurant and Bar) enroute to her home at 9:00pm that is about 300 yards away from La Cabana and has not been seen or heard from since. She is of clear complexion, long black hair, about 5ft in height, weights 160lbs and was last seen wearing a white blouse, white jeans pants, and brown slippers. 

PLACENCIA

STABBING INCIDENT

LLOYD AUGUSTINE 36 Security supervisor of Seine Bight Village, reported that on the 5.3.10 at 3:30 a.m., he was in the vicinity of the Placencia Airstrip, when he was approached by a male person known to him as “Face” armed with a knife. According to Augustine, " Face" threatened to kill him and  proceeded to stab complainant on his face between his eyes with the knife. Police are investigating.

ROBBERY

On 6/3/10 at 3:40pm Ferdy CABB 28 of a  Belize City address reported that he was at the Guanacate Park, Belmopan city accompanied by his friends  when they were approached by a dark skin male wearing a camouflage jacket and had a white t-shirt over his face. The man pointed a black hand gun at them and stole two Lexus camera, two gold rings, a cell phone and cash. Police are investigating.
